Retaining what you learn Some people are very interested in learning a new language, but fear not being able to remember what is learnt in class. Have you ever felt this way? If this is your case do not despair; There are several things you can do, let me give you some tips that will make you remember it; I always encourage my students to do it and it works for them, so take courage! You can do it, too. Remember that we always learn better when it is close to our heart, it means that you must analyze how much interest you have in learning the language that you have chosen, your motivation: do you need to learn it in order to get a better job?, ¿...  to get a good grade at school? ... to travel and thus broaden your horizons? Even if you have to do it by obligation, think about what you will get in return, what reward you will get, and it will be easier for you to study. Discover what you are passionate about What are you passionate about? What can you do well? Is this so important? Do you learn everything at school?  I would say that all these questions have their importance. When you are young and you go to college and all that, you begin to see all the subjects that you must study ... the obligatory ones and the electives. It's amazing that there are so many, is it not? Many say it is general culture and learning some basic things is the right thing to do. Let me tell you, my dear friend, that your applying to school will do you good. All these topics help you understand the world around you, explore the alternatives you have and learn to think and value things for yourself. Be the leading man of your own life I heard this phrase in one of my favorite movies and I loved it. I ponder over this marvelous thought and made it mine. All people need a motivator in life, something to get the best out of you and direct your steps in life. I began to understand that it is important to discover what you do well and what you like when I returned to England, after almost a year in my beloved Bolivia working as a volunteer with the Guarani tribe. The things had changed a lot economically since I left ... I had dreams about what the ideal job would be and I realized, little by little, that if I wanted to enjoy of a fulfilling job again, one that instead of tiring me out, would increase my energy levels and enthusiasm, I had to create it.
